Sports Tonight

Here are a selection of examples of the sort of work I produced whilst at Sports Tonight TV.

Reporting

In November 2012 I was sent to cover the Schalke v Arsenal Champions League tie at the Veltins Arena. Here’s a sample of the audio updates provided for the studio in London.

Saturday Show

I was in charge of editing a Saturday show aimed at rivalling Sky Sports News but with a tiny budget. This is an example of what we did… we had to be very creative with how we covered the games – we were not allowed to show the games obviously or use people in the UK to report on the games. We didn’t have enough money or the rights to send reporters!

Polish Football:

Sports Tonight had the rights to broadcast three Polish Extraklasa games per week. I would produce the studio from London.

Euro 2012:

During Euro 2012 we had a daily show on Sky Channel 498, where we did our best to cover the tournament without any rights or ability to show action. As you can see we were very creative in terms of what we did to keep the shows fresh and entertaining. Ian Payne and Darren Lewis were our presenters and they were joined by former players and journalists for the daily shows.

The Forum

I came up with a programme idea for the channel which was a sporting version of Question Time. Great guests joined us including David Gold (West Ham United co-chairman) and Mark Palios (former FA Chairman) who are included in this episode.

Betting:

I produced a weekly betting show that previewed the weekend football action. This is an example of how we’d quickly look at some of the main markets our viewers liked to bet on:

Interviews:

I’d regularly arrange interviews with players, managers, agents or journalists that were relevant for the show. I’d help the presenters prepare questions. Here’s one example, with Bradford’s club captain Ricky Ravenhill, the night after they dumped Arsenal out the Capital One Cup.
